Our TPIR Friends

One of your of the friends we made in line while waiting to get in to The Price is Right, works for a radio station in DC/Baltimore and this is his post about our experience.

We're on TV!!!

Right now! We're on live television. Each time someone bids on contestants row we're on the 4th row behind the far left contestant. I know its work hours but I peeked in the conference room because I had to see us on TV! We're recording on about 4 different TVs thanks to family and friends. BOB BARKER and the Price is Right! WE WERE THERE!!!!

Unknown Celebrity Identified

When Terri and I where taking a break from waiting in line for the Price is Right we took a rather long walk down Fairfax Ave. As we where walking we passed a cafe and I noticed this women but could not place her name or where I might have seen her. I knew that she was in a movie that I watched as a child that most would consider to be of "B" grade. I could see her in the movie in my head and yesterday I was able to see the rest of the movie and sadly it was a very terrible movie called Teen Witch and Marcia Wallace, the previously unidentified celebrity played a teacher in film. You also might remember her from her role as Bob Newheart's secretary in the TV show The Bob Newheart Show.

THIS FRIDAY - June 1

Terri and can been seen in the audence on THIS FRIDAYS (June 1) Price is Right. You will find us sitting three rows behind contestant row, off to the left side. Check your local CBS stations schedule (10am in most places) for time. If you work during the day and don't have Tivo I will be recording and then burning the episode to DVD. If you would like to barrow a copy just let us know.

Location, Location, Location

We could not have picked a better hotel. First, there was the hotel it's self. It was small and oh so cute. It had everything we needed (free internet, mini frig & microwave, and most important of all free parking) and the coolest 1930's art deco design. The staff could not have been sweeter and they where so very helpful. But by far the best was its LOCATION. We where literally seconds from Hollywood and Highlands which anytime of year would be cool but with the American Idle finals at the Kodak Theater and the opening of Pirates at the El Capitan Theater, Hollywood and Highlands was the place to be in Los Angeles.

Back to Reality

Were are finally back in the Lone Star State. After spending day on hold with baggage claim and shopping to replace things that I needed (ie, underwear and make-up) Terri and I made the decision to extend our trip by two days. So instead of returning Friday evening we got back into town last night. There are SO many stories to tell I do not yet have the energy to start but we will begin to recount the events of our week in LA but here is a start. We did get into the Price is Right audience but neither of us was called to "come on down". No the airline has not yet been able to locate my bag and my bad luck continued when my cell phone decided to take a swim in the toilet of the gas station across the street from the CBS studios at 4 in the morning. More to come soon including pictures.

Termal Hold

A snag has developed in our plan. Delta Airlines (if ANYONE out there is listen from Delta) has Lost my bag. Somewhere between Sunday and today they can't seem to find it. Not that big of a deal, I understand sometimes these things happen. I buy more make-up and underware. I can replace my power cable to my computer BUT . . . I can't buy a new or replace the shirt that Terri I spent 12 hours making to wear on the Price is Right. I am MAD I AM NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANY MORE. We are heading to get in line a an hour or two and since my computer battery is dead and the power card is in said lost bag we won't be taking my computer to give everyone updates while we are in line. Thanks for checking . . .
I amost for got last night we saw The tongue himself Gene Simmons, lead singer of KISS and his long time girlfriend and mother to his two children eating while we where dinning at the Ivy.

Sightseeing day 1

hFor our first afternoon here, we decided to walk over to Hollywood and Highlands blvd this afternoon. It's crazy downtown outside the Chinese theatre with celebrity impersonators (I took my picture with Superman) and its hard to read the stars on the Walk of Fame because you have to watch where you're walking in all the people! Its packed because the season finale of American Idol is taking place less than one BLOCK from our hotel and they're doing a special concert tomorrow night at the mall across the street. We expect to see some celebrities for sure!

Next we did a celebrity home tour - Starlite tour. Some highlights- we saw Paris Hilton's home and her cars including the black one that Brittney Spears has made famous with her "revealing" exit, the house at the beginning of the Fresh Prince of Bell Air TV show, we rode down Rodeo drive, saw the former home of Lucille Ball and the most expensive mansion at $150 million- the Aaron Spelling estate. We saw the lifestyles of the rich and famous and their nice automobiles from Ferraris to Lamborghinis . Then we saw our first celebrity! Sharon Ozborne was driving her Bentley on her way back home. So we got a flare for the Bell Aire and Holmby Hills subdivisons.

Tomorrow we're going to the LA County Coroner's museum, the Brea Tar Pits and then JAY LENO!!! Fun Fun!!!

We’re Here, We’re Here, We’re Here

We have arrived safe and sound to sunny California and have found our way to our cute little hotel in West Hollywood, sans one suitcase that didn’t make it on our flight (the airline knows where it is and is having it delivered later today). We landed around 12 noon and so far we have had lunch at In-N-Out Burger, done a check it out thing at CBS to see when people lined up for the Price taping tomorrow. We have also passed Sunset, Rodeo Dr., and cruised down Fairfax. We have seen the “wood” of the Hollywood sign through the palm trees, haze, and smog. Tell you more stories later but Terri might shoot me if we spend too much time in the room. She is in vacation mood and wants to do, see, and go so I must dash to explore the wilds of Los Angeles and Hollywood.

As part of our preparation I put together a CD of song about California, Los Angeles, and Hollywood. I tried to get a mix of types music and I am pleased with the way it came out. I know that it's cheezy but I titled the CD "California Dreaming." So here is our CD:

“Roll down the window put down the top, Crank up the Beach Boys baby, Don't let the music stop, We're gonna ride it till we just can't ride it no more, From the South Bay to the Valley, From the West Side to the East Side, Everybody's very happy, 'Cause the sun is shining all the time, Looks like another perfect day, I love L.A. (We love it), I love L.A. (We love it)”

  2. Walking in L.A. by Missing Persons
“You won't see a cop walkin' on the beat, Nobody's walkin' (walkin') (walkin') (walkin') (walkin'), You only see 'em drivin' cars out on the street, Nobody's walkin' (walkin') (walkin') (walkin') (walkin'), You won't see a kid walkin' home from school, Nobody's walkin' (walkin') (walkin') (walkin') (walkin'), Their mothers pick 'em up in a car pool, Nobody's walkin'(walkin') (walkin') (walkin') (walkin'), Walkin' in L.A.
